Fios Parental Control rule disappeared

I set up a parental control rule to block wifi access during certain times on one device.

The rule is working.

However, when I go to the router portal to change or remove it, there are no rules listed. That was the only rule and now it's as if the rule was never created. But it's still working!

How can I find and remove the rule? Is there an alternative by resetting the router? If so, how do I do that?

FiOS ONT & G3100 Networking Assistance w/ a MoCA Adapter and TiVos

$

House is 18 years old, long cable runs to rooms on 3 floors, cannot confirm if they are Cat 6. Used to be a DirecTV customer.

Here's how the ONT is connected to the G3100:

ONT in the basement receiving FiOS from the street.
G3100 on first floor far away from my STBs (TiVo Roamio Pro, Roamio Plus and 7 minis)
Ethernet WAN line from ONT to G3100 on first floor

Please critique this proposed set-up.

Basement coax from ONT to a POE filter and 2 port Verizon splitter (1675 MHz rated)

Split 1: TiVo MoCA 2.0 Adapter (black) with separate input output coax connections and one ethernet port. MoCA adapter coax "input" takes coax line from the splitter and connects to the G3100 via the adapter's coax output line to the G3100 Coax WAN/LAN port. MoCA adapter's ethernet line connected to one of the 4 LAN ethernet ports on the G3100 (yes it's a long separate ethernet cord).

Split 2: The using 1675 MHz-rated splitters to connect the rest of the coax cables that connect the all of my TiVos in my house to the coax output from the ONT

I used to use the Roamio Pro and Roamio Plus to be a MoCA "Bridge" to the TiVo minis with the TiVo minis being a Client.

Set up the TiVo Roamio Pro and Plus as a "Client" (and no longer a "Bridge") to the new MoCA network hopefully created by the MoCA 2.0 Adapter's connections to the G3100.

Any problems with the proposed set-up?

Finally, in a 3rd floor room far away from the G3100, use a TiVo MoCA bridge (white) (only one Coax input port) from the coax cable line to that room to connect a gaming device directly to the ethernet port on the Bridge that hopefully recognizes the new MoCA network created by the Adapter in my basement and provides a fast connection. I plan to use a splitter to connect the coax to the TiVo mini there.

own router w/internet & tv

Recently, the Actiontec router (MI424WR) I purchased from Verizon some time ago has been providing poor wireless for my laptop. After working with tech support, I've come to the conclusion that the router is toast and cannot be fixed. Instead of renting or purchasing a sub-par Verizon router, I want to use a third-party router. I've done some research and think I understand the process (e.g., the steps located at https://forums.verizon.com/t5/Fios-Internet/Using-your-own-router-with-Verizon-FiOS/td-p/851632 and https://www.wikihow.com/Use-Your-Own-Router-With-Verizon-FiOS). I do have some questions that I hope someone here can clarify. FYI, I have both Internet (50/50) and TV and a coaxial cable is connected to the Actiontec.

  1. Is there anything else I need to do to the old Verizon router, other than releasing the DHCP Lease?
  2. Is there anything else I need to do to the new third-party router in order for FIOS Internet to work?
  3. For TV, which do folks recommend and why?
    1. Connecting an Ethernet cable from the LAN port of the third-party router to the WAN port of the old Verizon router, leaving the coaxial cable attached to the old Verizon router, and rebooting the Verizon router, OR
    2. Connecting the coaxial cable from my old Verizon router to the coax-in port on a MoCa adapter, and then connecting an Ethernet cable between a LAN port on the new router to the MoCa adapter's Ethernet port. And then rebooting the set top box after the MoCa adapter has been connected.
  4. Re: a new router, are there any specs of which I need to be aware in order for the router to work?
  5. Re: a MoCa adapter, are there any specs of which I need to be aware in order for the adapter to work?

TIA!

Verizon speedtest disconnects internet

This may be related the the G3100 router but when I try to run the Verizon speedtest from their server to my router, the test hangs and disconnects the internet. Both the wired and wireless connection are interrupted and resume in around a minute. Anyone notice this and any resolution?

verizon fiber repair, techsecure, cmr and the rabbit hole

My fiber at home was nicked so for the repair Verizon recommended me to get TechSure plus and that it would cover the cost of the repair.

Three month later i get a bill from some organization called CMR.  After much investigating i figured out that they are the enforcer of the "Verizon special projects" billings.

Now if i call Verizon they don't know about any of this. But somehow I being haunted by the ghost of CMR for a job I know nothing about.

Anyone knows how to solve this?

Hello,

Using a combination of my own netgear nighthawk router, MOCA, and G1100 router

Currently I have the standalone Verizon Fios 300/300 internet service, but would like to hardwire more of the devices on my network, especially the ones on the second floor. Currently I receive internet from the ONT through ethernet and into my personal router, which is a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 I believe and located on the first floor. I noticed that I have coax ports in most of my rooms (unsure if they are all connected) so I was looking into using MOCA adapters available on amazon or the Fios network adapter. I was thinking that maybe if I buy the Fios Network adapter, connect it to ethernet from the router, and then connect the coaxial port of the FNA to the nearest coaxial line in the room that I will be able to have internet throughout all the coaxial lines in my house. Again this is dependent on whether all the coaxial lines are connected which I am assuming they are. If this setup works, I was thinking I could pull out my old g1100 router and connect it to a coax port on the second floor and have that router bridged to my main router so it basically acts as a wifi extender and ethernet hub. So basically this is the setup I have in mind:

First Floor

ONT->ethernet->Netgear Nighthawk->ethernet->FNA/MOCA->coax->coax port

Second Floor:

Coax Port->coax->Fios G1100->ethernet->any of my devices

Can anyone verify whether this would work? I'm unsure whether I can use the FNA like this or any other MOCA adapter. Also unsure if I would just need to have internet coming from the ONT in both ethernet and coax.

Techsure and CMR

Hi,

My apartment  maintenance crew nicked the fiber in my unit. The Verizon agent on the phone assured me that if I add Techsure Plus to my plan the repair will be covered.

Now I find myself having to deal with a company named CMR claiming to be collecting for Verizon Special Projects Billing without any explanation of why this is happening and what I'm supposed to be paying for.

Called Verizon multiple times without a clear explanation and moved around to several departments each claiming not to be responsible for this.

Does anyone know why Verizon is doing this? Why they use CMR? While the people on the phone were really nice I feel very disappointed on the position Verizon has put me in.

Any one know how to address this with Verizon in a productive way?

iOS SSID HIDDEN ROUTER WIFI NAME ACCESS SETTINGS AND ALSO VPN SERVICES

Security issue. I turned off my ssid setting for transmitting router access name of signal.  It’s viewable in settings menu of iOS.  example, If it’s called Fios-hnmqwe123, then I should only see Fi...23, in settings, just like you do for Id verification, when asking for completing an email address to fill in those dots of a recognizable email address, that Usually shows first 3 and last three letters of address.  my Verizon Fios router SSID, was turned off through my Apple. I turned on my Verizon tv cable box, which has an ont bridge from the router, and going into my Fios, Tv menu, 1 button press in, I’m looking at Ssid router signal names.  Which were set to be hidden In iOS, iPad iOS, and Mac OS.  That means anyone can turn on a tv or Access cable box and see The apple’s hidden ssid‘s.

How To Flush DNS Cache on Router?

$

Hello,

Having a continuing issue where DNS information is changed on the internet, but the old information is retained in the local Verizon Router. If I navigate to a URL on another device not on the network (ie: Cell Phone on Cell Service) it correctly uses the updated DNS information. Do the same on a local device connected to the Verizon Router, and it routes using old DNS data.

How do I flush the local routers DNS cached data so that it is forced to obtain the latest DNS information found on the internet?

Fios Network Adapter - no coax light

$

Hello,

When I had Verizon installed last month, I asked the technician to use the ethernet cord so I could eventually switch to my own router.  They said they couldn't feed line through walls so they just used the existing coax cabling from the ONT to the rest of the house.  The tech said that, in order to use my own router with coax, I could get a Fios Network Adapter, connect that to the coax and then run ethernet to my router and other devices.

I got the Network Adapter in the mail today, unplugged the Verizon router, and then hooked up the Adapter to the coax, power, and my own router, following the installation instructions. The instructions are very basic, however, and say that once the power and coax lights are green, the installation is complete. The power light comes on but not the coax light. There is nothing in the instructions or in the Verizon website FAQs on how to troubleshoot this.  I tried calling Verizon but with high call volumes they said it would be an hour wait.

I hope someone can help me. I hope I didn't waste money on this thing that won't work.

Thanks.
