FiOS accidentally disconnected my service early - can't fix it

I'm extremely upset and don't know what to do. I'm moving in 9 days, and placed an order for FIOS to transfer my service on Feb 3rd. They accidentally pulled the trigger early, and I'm without internet. After spending 5 hours on hold talking to 6 people (whenever I'd be placed on hold more than a few minutes it would kick me back to the main ivr queue), they said they can't fix it, they don't have an answer as to why they've shut it off, and that starting new service takes up to 3 days. This is unbelievable.

Connect ont to modem/router combo?

Hi, all

seems like fios set up ont to a wireless router via Ethernet, I am trying to determine if I can use my old arris sbg6580-g228 modem/router, which only has coax port.

my question is

1. can ont connect to modem/router, OR just a router?

2. Can ont connect to my arris via coax? Or I should just shell out to buy new router?

I feel 1 is router only, and 2 a new router. But want to ask first here. Please let me know.

Slow internet? Help!

I'm confused about this. Help..

I've moved back in with my mother and found out she has Verizon DSL and is paying $70/$80 a month for about 5mbps! Wew! I thought she already had Verizon Fios but apparently not with THAT speed?? That must be DSL (right?)

I'd definitely like to get her faster internet. I'm not sure if the DSL can go faster but clearly Fios advertises faster internet options for roughly the same monthly price.

My mother mentioned talking to a local cable company about getting cable internet to the house, and was told she'd have to pay $16,000 for them to put in a new conduit as the current none "does not have enough space for it".

I honestly do not know if this 'cable' she mentioned was Verizon or a competitor. I'm curious though if this would apply to Verizon fios if not. Can she get Verizon Fios or will a new line through a new conduit likely needing to be put down...?

Service disconnected prematurely

I’ll be moving soon, so about an hour ago I went into my Fios online profile to submit an order to change my Fios internet service to the new address. The earliest date I could secure was 2/5, so I set the deactivation date at my current address for 2/4. No sooner had I closed the app my service was disconnected and WILL NOT come back on even after reboots and unplugging. On top of that, it’s after midnight and there are no Fios representatives avail to troubleshoot this. First of all, how does a company this large not have 24 hour technical assistance?! My bill covers 24 hour periods, not 9-5. Now I have to wait for a morning call back and I already have a feeling that’s going to be a long drawn out experience I do NOT have time for. I’m **bleep**

Google WiFi Mesh & Verizon Fios Issue

$

Let me start this off by saying that I have been using this setup for almost 2 years now without issue. I have Verizon Fios gigabit service with a Fios Quantum Gateway router. I also have the Google WiFi mesh system with 3 access points total. I have the main AP connected to the port 1 on my Fios router. I also have the ONT out of the wall going to my WAN port and then have the coax cable.

So, again, I haven't had ANY issues for the past 2 years up until 5 days ago. Fios must've been putting out an update because my fios one box was blinking green and seemed stuck on the update. After talking with fios early that next morning it went back to white, but the other box I have is still blinking green (who knows why, but TV works, DVR works, etc). That's when all my issues started with the internet.

After talking to Fios for 4 days them trying to do all these troubleshooting issues and saying it's fixed and then it's actually not is quite annoying. The internet issue I am facing is spotty internet where it'll be fine for hours and then drop for a minute or two and then come back, but when you work from home internet is very important.

Yesterday, I decided after Fios says everything was good on their side to contact Google WiFi support. The guy was very helpful and said the issue from the logs he can see that I am facing is I am having a double NAT or multiple networks. Your Google Wifi signal channels and the WiFi from Verizon is interfering reason why your network is dropping.

He asked me to contact Verizon and have them walk me through how to my Fios router in bridge mode, which they did no issue took a few minutes. I thought I was good the fios router globe was red (I assumed this was due to bridge mode) and then the wifi symbol below was lit up and white. Thought I was good because I have all my devices (10 of them currently) connected to my google WiFi setup.

Well... it did not go well and my internet was going offline constantly over a 5 hour span once this new setup was complete. Google support had no clue what the issue was, Fios says they had no clue either so I had to reset (hit the button on the back) my router and it went back to normal, no bridge mode, etc.

Everything is back up and running, but the internet is still spotty like my guess is there is still interference between the two which causes the WiFi to drop for a bit and come back. I don't know how to fix this or what I should do. I could completely get rid of the google system, but I have it actually so I can get wifi in places of my house where fios couldn't reach including my ring cameras outside my garage.

What's weird is I check my speeds via the google wifi system and I get 653 average download and 786 average upload, which seems awesome, right? I downloaded the speedtest app and ran it over my wifi when connected to google and then ran it over LTE today and over WiFi I got 41.8 download and 38.2 upload and then over LTE I got 108 download and 4.90 upload....I don't know why the numbers are so off or why my internet has been tanking all of a sudden after being good for 2 years.

Anyone have any ideas, advice, I am 100% open to anything at this point. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!

G3100 router dropping internet connection

My wife called that the Internet was out. When I returned home around 6 pm I reset the router and the problem resolved. I copied some of the log information showing the problem occurred around 9 am this morning. The first dnsmasq err line is repeated continuously up to the router restarting.

There is a repeated warning of a possible DNS-rebind attack detected. 192.168.1.89 is the ip address of our Synology NAS.

Anyway, I am interested in whether you can shed any light on what happened. The router (G3100) was sitting with its regular white circle and was supporting wifi connections but no internet connection.

Never have I dealt with such poor customer service.

FIOS Quanum Gateway Router Weaker after Service Upgrade

$

A week ago we upgraded from 100mb service to 200mb.  Since then our gateway router does not have the 5ghz option any more, only 2ghz.  Before the switch the gateway was getting around 75-80 mbps on a speed test from our tablet.  We also have a Gryphon router connected to it via an Ethernet cable.  That was getting 90mbps.  Now with the upgrade, both routers are testing around 110mb.  It takes 2 tests as well.  The first test is always down around 70mb, the second increases it to 110.  I have powered cycled the router and it did not help any.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Wifi Extender question

I just signed up for fios 980/880 ( or something similar) . The speeds by wifi aren't even close to that.  Was thinking of getting a wifi extender but didn't want to pay 199.00 for the wifi extender verizon is selling.

I have the newest router the Tri-band Wi-Fi 6 router.

Can I just buy any extended off of amazon or am I stuck buying verizons?

thanks for any help

Cannot connect to Google or other Google products but can ping to the sites

Hi,

I discovered this issue yesterday morning when I tried to search for something on Google and displayed "Can't connect" message. Gmail and other websites have been working fine except google.com. I tried restarting my router and it worked fine for a few moments. After that, google.com worked fine but it was Google Photos that cannot connect to. I tried restarting my router one more time, this time was YouTube that was not working correctly (all of the video thumbnails were not shown). I tried to restart the router one last time, and it went back to google.com not working.

I tried ping google.com in the command line and it pinged successfully. However, I cannot connect to the site in the browser. Neither on Windows 10, nor on Mac, nor on iPhone (that's all the devices I own). I also tested on different browsers, the results were the same.

Can someone help me solve this issue, and why does it only affect Google-owned sites?

Thanks,

Robby

Verizon web site error on military veteran discounts

$

I'm in a loop trying to register for military veteran discounts. It insists that I list my employer. I'm retired. In the same box I could also put "branch," but I think this intended for active duty or retired military, which I am not. I've tried "retired" and then tried "Army" but doesn't recognize those. It does give me the opportunity to upload documentation about my employment. And thus the loop. It does say in the instructions that I could upload my DD-214 discharge document or some other ID, but it doesn't offer that option in any of the boxes -- proof of employment is the only option. I tried chat support and was advised to clear all cache/cookies/history and try again. Always a hassle to do that, and of course the chat ended while I was on that brief effort. I did it, and the loop remains. How do I find help/guidance?

G1100 and WCB6200Q... use the FNE as an access point with unique SSID?

$

I have a FIOS Network Extender (WCB6200Q) connected via coax to a FIOS Quantum Gateway Router (G1100).  The FNE is replicating the router's SSID and password properly.  However, I would like to reconfigure the FNE with a new permanent SSID and password, so I can use the FNE as an access point where specific devices will always be assigned and connected to the FNE.  Is this possible and how would I specifically configure?  From everything I've read about the G1100 and the WCB6200Q, the FNE always adopts the routers credentials even if you temporarily change the SSID and password in the FNE's configuration page.  Help, please.

G1100 as Switch/AP after Edgerouter4

$

New here.  I'm wiring my whole home with Cat 6a and upgraded to FiOS 940/880, with TV and phone.

I just bought a Ubiquiti Edgerouter 4 to use as my main router for the house and I'll have at some point a 802.11ax AP for wireless.  By writing my house, I'll take 10 devices out of the wireless signal chain.

Until I can save up the coin to buy a nice AP, I still have my G1100.  For whatever reason, when I try to get to use it in bridge mode, it won't pull an IP from the main router.

I disable DHCP on the G1100, set the IP to 192.168.1.2, subnet 255.255.255.0, and plug ethernet from LAN on Edgerouter to WAN on the G1100.

Am I missing something for it not to work?

Thanks,

Jeff
