Slow Upload Speeds
Between 9am to 7pm weekdays and all weekend long my upload speed is 1/4 vs other times. I have opened tickets and sent them video screenshots but no reply.
They are throttling bandwidth but doesn't make a lot of sense on the upload path?
This didn't happen to me in NYC but just moved two weeks ago to PA and now I'm being throttled with my 1GB connection.
Anyone else with this upload issue? Download is fine. I reach 956 Mbps from my NYC servers.
Think it is happening at one or all of these hops.

Bad situation and HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
Had Fios installed in July. They ran the cable from the pole to my house ABOVE ground and now we lose all our services after the cable is destroyed by cars, weather, etc. Verizon tickets close the day after I call and supposedly a 3rd party does the cable burial, but this is still not completed. Tech visited today to once again, restore service and had to run another cable. This time it goes across my neighbor's driveway and public sidewalks to create a tripping hazard (Verizon Liability) let alone my service issues.
Still on hold for support 45 mins and counting to understand why the ticket has been closed without the work completed.
New feature: SON
Hello,
I am trying to understand the purpose behind this interesting, yet completely unnecessary Self-Organizing Network feature. It really seems to do nothing to really help, but adds something else that can go wrong.
Why not fix what is broken? Such as the "unsafe site", when I try to go to my router settings? Or, something useful, like putting the MAC address list security feature back into the settings?
isn't it ridiculous to drill a hole in my ceiling and floor on the 2nd level to install FIOS?
I was interested in switching internet service from Xfinity to Fios for a while. Coincidently, there were salespeople in my neighborhood to sell the service. So they visited, we discussed the details and was all ready to install the FIOS service.
some background about my house: townhouse with garage above ground, and the living room is on the second floor above the garage.
Today when the technicians stopped by to install the router, they told me they have to drill a hole through the garage ceiling to my living room on the second floor, and this is the only way to install the service? Otherwise, the wifi signal can be very weak on the 3 floors where the bedrooms are.
a hole on the living room's hardwood floor? My question to FIOS is if your technology is not advanced enough to provide service without having user to worry about the house construction, why you even promote this immature service to the market?
I was also told by the technician that, if not drill a hole, I can buy single enhancement equipment at around $400 at my own cost, but it still might not work for the 3rd floor. Excuse me, why I have to spend the extra dollar on wifi not even work beyond 2 floors? to remind, my house is not big at all, not like I have a mention or something.
if my current Xfinity can work for the entire house, what is your selling point of using FIOS that only works for 2 floors, and needs to drill something that may damage the house construction?
improve your technology to be ready for users to buy!

Question on newly added Self-Organizing Network (SON) Feature
Hello
I just received the new router update supporting Self-Organizing Network (SON) for my Fios router.
Does this mean I can now add a Google wifi (mesh router) or similar add on...? i just want something that can help expand coverage for a house with an extended footprint, neighter the 2.4/5 Gig spectrum really cover the footprint. Basically keeping the Fios router and adding some mesh pucks to help with wifi coverage.
Thanks in advance.

iPod Cannot Connect to WiFi after Router Update
My old iPod I use in the kitchen stopped getting WiFi as soon as the router update was completed, didn’t help or hurt by enabling SON. Still can’t get my tunes to work! Any tips? It could only ever connect to the 2.4 level so idk what the issue is.
Cannot reach blog.sina.com.cn
Hello, I'm having trouble opening the URL blog.sina.com.cn, but it works well on comcast and other networks. From traceroute it seems to have a routing cycle as 100.41.214.178 appeared twice:

Verizon Router
I have a Verizon supplied Router for use with the Fios network. I want to give it to someone that is with a different internet service. Can this Router be used and function properly with a non Verizon internet service?
Issue with SON Setting and Extenders
Hi everyone,
Hope you are all having a Happy and safe Thanksgiving.
I am been having some issues with my overall internet performance with my fios network extenders that I was hoping someone could help with.
* How many FIOS network extenders are you allowed on your FIOS network? I have the latest FIOS Gateway Router and the latest FIOS MOCA extenders - I have a total of 4 extenders throughout the house
* Issue with SON setting - I know this is supposed to bond the EXT frequencies from the extenders into the main router name - and then it determines whether 2.4 or 5 ghz perfomance. When turning on from the FIOS page I get an error but refresh page and shows it is enabled - however it feels like my overall internet performance is worse...
* I turn SON off and I connect to the EXT frequency and stand next to one of my extenders... I would expect a full signal but my phone shows 2-3 bars and when I do a network performance I might get 250 mbs... sometimes 100.. or it goes down to 50 mb.. I would expect closer to around 250 mb or higher given i am standing right next to the extender I am conenct to.
I have tried resetting the ONT multiple times as well as the main router but it doesnt seem to do much.
Any help would be appreciated as I am scratching my head as given the extenders all enabled via MOCA I would expect full house coverage.
Maybe the better answer is to go with the new router + extenders.. but that is a 700+ investment etc..
Thanks
Make do with an old router + WAC or upgrade ONT so I can get a new one
We had thought about continuing to use our Actiontec router and adding a wireless access point to provide wi-fi to a new computer with an ac card. Then we realized that the router is 7 years old, so we are considering changing out the ONT so we can have an ethernet connection and switch to a new ac router. We are being quoted $149 for that upgrade and rental of a new router would be $15/month for the 100/100 service. We're not into renting equipment if we can avoid it so would probably buy our own router if we go the upgrade route. We have internet and phone but no TV. How can I figure out which routers will work with fios and how difficult would it be to set up? This seems more complicated than it should be.
Thanks so much.
Misinformation from Verizon
Unable to login to router using myfiosgateway
I was having trouble with my Verizon Fios router Mi424wr - connection was spotty and unreliable, so I tried logging in to the router to check the settings. I got redirected to myfiosgateway.com, and was prompted for a password. I used the password from the sticker on the side of the router, but that didn't work. I also tried 'password', 'admin', the serial number, and anything else I could think of. No dice. I reset to factory default, and tried all the passwords again. Still no luck. Eventually I chatted with Verizon tech support, and they reset the router password to a simple string of numbers. That didn't work. I even gave the tech remote access to my computer so they could try, and that didn't work.
I gave up on checking the router settings, and tried bypassing it by connecting directly to the DSL modem. That fixed the connection issue, so I figured the router was just shot, and bought a new one - a g1100. Now I've got that setup, and the internet connection is fine, but I STILL can't login to the new router. Just like last time, I tried the password on the sticker, tried 'admin', 'password', <blank>, serial number. Nothing works. I can't believe I have the same issue with a different router again. Any ideas on what could be preventing me from logging in to the router to change the settings? This "myfiosgateway" is starting to drive me nuts since it used to be so easy to connect to my router to adjust the settings.
Speed THROTTLED on PAYMENT PLAN
After being a FiOS customer for 13, years it seems as though there is much confusion on these boards regarding Verizon's Internet Practices. When it comes to making a simple Payment Arrangement (here and there) it's never been a problem to pay our bill 48-72 hours after the actual due date. Now, what absolutely doesn't make ANY sense is that Verizon is Throttling our Gigabit Plan. This ONLY started when we Xfered our account to a new address (2 miles) down the road. New account number, the whole shabang. Why after 13 years did Verizon FiOS decide to Throttle our Internet at our new home? Was our previous account number in a (Loyalty) Status? If we make our payment on the actual (due date) then there is (No Throttling) - This is not due to a congested line, or neighborhood. We do not live in or near any major city. Since Net Neutrality came into play, FiOS has never been the same. Anyone else still having this problem, if so, what has been your experience? What exactly is Verizon getting paid for? Besides slowing down paying users who adhere to their Payment Plans?
Wired Connection Hanging When Wireless Gaming
Whenever I start up a game on a laptop via wireless, the wired desktop has major connectivity issues. It's slow or just outright hangs when loading web pages or streaming low Res content.
The game is old and I didn't expect that it was using much bandwidth, but I put a monitor on the laptop and the game is not transferring much data back and forth (only a few MB per minute at max). However, it is a constant level of communication. I also ran a speed test (dslreports) and my most recent results at 75/68 so it's not for a lack of available bandwidth but my connection had some bad bufferbloat when uploading. The final rating was a C, but the peak during upload was around 1400ms.
Any ideas on what to check?
Would like to use a MoCA adapter to connect my own router
Hello everyone - networking noob here.
I'd like to connect use my own router with my Verizon FIOS service (I am internet only). Connecting the router directly to the ONT is not an option since there is no spare electrical outlet in the closet with the ONT. My apartment is wired for MoCA.
Instead, I'm trying to connect my router (NETGEAR Nighthawk AC 1900) to FIOS using a Motorola MM1000 MoCA adapter. The LAN light on the adapter lights up, so I assume it's connecting to FIOS. However the Link light does not turn on so there is no data going to the router.
Has anyone else tried this solution before, and did you have similar issues?
Alternatively I do see that the coax point on the wall has an ethernet outlet - can Verizon switch over to ethernet?
Verizon router replacing source ip for incoming traffic
Hi,
I recently switched to Verizon Fios GigE service from cablevision. I do a port forwarding to internal machine for ssh (port 22). I have some rules based on failed login attempts to ban the ip (fail2ban software). SInce I switched to FIOS, I can no longer use that as verizon does a NAT for incoming traffic as well and all of the traffic from outside seems to come from 192.168.1.1 (router ip). Ideally this should only be done for outgoing traffic where the source ip gets replaced with public ip and not for incoming traffic. Is there a setting in router that can fix this behavior?
Thanks,
FIOS ONT Backup Battery
FYI... I just replaced the backup battery for my FIOS ONT. The old battery was "Top Charge" dated 02/26/2010, so it lasted almost ten years. I purchased a replacement from Amazon under $25 with free shipping which arrived in five days which included a holiday and a weekend. I had tried disconnecting the old battery and performing a cancel alarm reset. This canceled the beep every minute alarm however after about 24 hours a beep started to occur every 15 minutes. I repeated the reset twice in 48 hours but continued to have the every 15 minute alarm return after 24 hours. Since the old battery lasted so long and the replacement was relatively cheap and easy to replace I decided to avoid any future hassle. The new battery works perfect. Well worth doing.
