Multiple MoCA devices - G1100 with WCB6200Q and ECB6200

I am having LAN trouble with a setup that has two Moca devices in addition to the Fios Gateway.

My previous setup had coax from the ONT into a G1100 Gateway.  Coax went into an Actiontec ECB6200 Moca device on another floor.  Ethernet came out of the ECB6200 and into a network switch.  Everything worked great and all of my devices could see each other on one happy network.  The devices plugged into the GW by ethernet could see the devices connected to the Actiontec ECB6200 Moca device just fine.

When I upgraded to gigabit Fios, the technician moved my G1100 gateway right next to the ONT, and connected the two with Ethernet. He added a Fios Network Extender (FNE) - WCB6200Q so he would not have to r running a new long Ethernet cable to a higher floor. Now all of my devices can see the internet just fine but the devices connected to the WCB6200 FNE are not able to see the devices that connect to the ECB6200 nor vice versa. This wreaks havoc on smart speakers and a few other things that need to be on the same local network to cooperate.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips for this kind of setup?

Powerline fire caused outage, Verizon insists that it's fine

There was a powerline fire on Tuesday which pretty much destroyed all of the lines. Con Edison and Comcast came to fix theirs. Everyone else who has Fios in the area has been calling to get theirs fixed and every time a tech comes by we all get the same response. "Yeah, I'm sorry but I can't fix it. The fire burnt the line. So I'm going to put in a note to Verizon to have an engineer come out to fix it, the engineer should be here in a few days." If that's the response that everyone has been getting since Wednesday, why isn't there a memo being sent to all of the techs? Why is customer support still sending out techs to fix our ONT's when the issue is the powerline? They know about the issue, we've all given customer support the same information, yet they all insist that the network is fine and that the ONT is broken but when a tech comes by they all agree that the fire caused too much damage to the line and that the ONT is fine.

I understand that it's only been a few days but we've all got homework and work to do, I get that we have to wait for this type of thing but if someone would give me a definite response, I'd be happy. Are we supposed to wait and continue paying for a service that we're not getting or what? I'm trying to speak to someone at Verizon at the moment but my wait time is an hour. Anyone here who can actually help? Or tell me a way I can try to get someone from Verizon to actually do something.

Router, Ethernet Cables, Coaxial Cable

Verizon recently sent a technician to my home to replace a defective or dead battery on a finished basement wall.  I did not receive an invoice so I do not know exactly what the tecnician did.  A few weeks later I upgraded my leased Verizon router.  No instructions came with the new router, splitter, and ethernet cables so I did the best I could to install the equipment.

As a result of these two Verizon interventions, I now have two ethernet cables coming out of the wall in one of my basement rooms, crossing the room, going up the wall and through a window into an adjoining room, and plugging into a 5G router.  The router is also connected by coax cable to a cable outlet in the same room.  The last time I called Verizon tech support, the technician assured me that the router needed to be connected to both the ethernet cables and the coax cable.

1.  Is the technician correct?

2.  The battery box on my basement wall is bad enough, but the exposed ethernet cabling is unacceptable.  It should be fished through the wall.  Who can I get to do this for me (Verizon?  an electrician?) and at whose expense?

3.  Could I possibly move the router from its current location in a former basement office to the main floor living room, next to a panel TV?  What would be involved to accomplish this, who would perform the work, and at whose expense?

4.  Who do I have to talk to at Verizon to get invoices for work performed for me, especially work in my home?

5.  Does anyone have an email address for Verizon so I can pose these questions directly to it?

ultimate employee offer for retirees

Hi- I am a retiree that just connected to FIOS, the Ultimate employee package( the rep did tell me I would be eligible for a discount on this plan) after the copper lines were retired in my area. The connection went flawlessy(thank you), but I am having trouble obtaining my discount. I follow the benefits page instructions, but get stuck on the FIOS page after I have logged in , after following the link sent to me by the benefits page. I have called customer service twice with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Bad Router, Worse Service

Wondering what the protocol is if a router goes bad. Using Verizon provided router and it died. Chatted with "Beena" and she assured me the new router would arrive in 1-2 days. After not seeing a delivery for 5 days I once again contacted Verizon. Turns out the original order was never placed. All told, I was without the router for 10 days. In the meantime between kids homework and my own work from home we burned through 10GB of cellular data, which I now need to pay for at $15/GB because we don't have an unlimited data plan. When I asked for compensation Verizon offered $13.33 for lost internet and would not budge. Chatted with supervisor "Muralidhar" and he would not offer me anything more. XFinity here I come!

Buyer beware!

I switched back over to Fios several months ago due to a sales call that offered more than what I was getting so I decided to give it a try. I should have been alarmed when they told me that they have put me into collections for $500 which Spectrum insisted they took care of. It became such a headache I just let it go but I am on disability with a very tight budget and this judgment just kills my credit but due to my anxiety I let it go but yet still signed up. Within 2 months my bill went up over $40 a month.. after a full day on the phone I was issued the credit for the overage on my bill thankfully. I don't really watch tv and don't have any use for a house phone and don't even own a phone which seems like a waste but whatever if it makes the plan more affordable. Now my major issue has been call after call over my weak internet service. They always check in and tell me it's perfect but my house is 1200sq ft and I have not great but ok internet service in about half of the house so today I spoke with a representative who told me I could just go to the store and purchase some sort of booster.. please excuse my lack of the correct terms but my head is still spinning from being on the phone with them all day. The store was very nice and told me they have it in stock but I need an approval code from Fios which is generally quick to do. Another call well over an hour with absolutely no results and mere frustration. My son came home today from college for a couple of days and has a paper due. I was unaware that there is absolutely no connection and the only thing that shows to add device is my neighbors internet.. at this point if they were home I would just ask them for their password. My son is currently at Best Buy trying to buy something similar when he should be doing his work. If the device doesn't work then I guess I will get him a sleeping bag and he can sit practically on top of the router to finish his work.. no Netflix for me tonight because I won't be able to stream it but praying he finishes college and maybe goes to Verizon as a trouble shooter. At least he speaks clearly and is polite which would be a huge step forward. I'm so outraged and stressed that I think I will skip dinner and have a glass of Cabernet. Thanks Fios for completing wasting another full day and still not accomplishing anything. Only a year and a half left with this contract. If it continues this way I am going to have to ask my doctor for Xanax or something. Buyer beware!!

Wi-fi needs upgrade, but debating about keeping Verizon Fios Service (another big price increase)

In a quandary since replacing my computer since my old Fios router (Actiontec M1424WR) does not work well with the new computer's wireless card--super slow speeds, maybe not dial up but not much better.  Since I use my computer a distance from the router, I have been hooked up with a long, snaking ethernet cable while I figure out what to do.  Fortunately, the old router works fine with a direct connection.  My Fios contract is up in January and so far it looks like I will have a 17% price increase after yearly increases of anywhere from 10 - 15% with each new contract previously.  If I keep Fios, I will have to have my ONT replaced--the one I have does not have an ethernet connection inside--snake an ethernet cable from there to my  husband's office (no easy way to get through the wall), buy a new router and hope I will have decent wi-fi speed.   Or, I can throw in my lot with Cox Cable which also does not excite me.   Or I can move my computer into my husband's office.  There is a good chance I will sell my house in the next year or 2 so not excited about making big changes.

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but is there any way to successfully hook up a new router for wi-fi to my old FiOS router.  I do not have FIOS TV and I don't have to have blazing fast speed.

Thanks

This has been going on since last week with users having connection issues to WoW.

Using the Blizzard looking glass tool I can see high latency on one of the Fios hops. For me it is :

Was told i need a new ONT to switch services

Today I was told by a sales rep that I will need to upgrade to the newest ONT in order to get my new services, AND MUST pay the $99 service charge. We are changing services, from gigabit with custom tv and phone, to gigabit with custom tv. I currently have a I-211L-M ONT and a G1100 router. Does anyone know if Verizon is using a newer ONT?

Being DDOS'd

I am getting DDOS'd daily using fragmented UDP packets. Who can I talk to to ask if this can be filtered by Verizon?

I am a FIOS business customer, but also a residential customer. My business line is getting the DDOS attacks.

Filtering fragmented UDP packets would stop this.

Thanks!

Slow Speed on Own Router

Hi All,

Apologies for a repeat topic, but I can't seem to find a solution.

Today a VZ tech installed an ONT in my apartment, plugged into the VZ modem (Quantum gateway). I did some speed test (speedtest.net) and was getting roughly the 200/200 I ordered.

Once the tech left, I released the DCHP lease, unplugged the Quantum, and plugged in my ASUS RT-AC1200. Originally, speed tests were very poor (20/10). Now they're at around 25-30/100. I deactivated QoS (Traffic Manager) and hard reset the router, but I can't get anywhere close to the 200/200 I was getting on the Quantum Gateway.

From everything I've read, it seems like it should be plug and play given my router can handle the speed. I don't have any custom firmware installed.

Any ideas? Thanks so much for any help in advance!

Fed Up With Slow Connection - Any Last Resorts?

$

Hi all,

Hope you can help us with this one! I've had FiOs for over two years now, in a house with multiple devices connected to the WiFi at once. This never seemed to be an issue for our 150mB connection, until about a month and a half ago.

Although nothing has changed in the household or surrounding area, the WiFi suddenly decided to essentially stop working. The max speed connection we've been getting is 50mB, and even then the WiFi just won't load certain apps on the phone or laptop; our fire stick stopped connecting completely. And yes, the devices indicate that there is a strong connection with the WiFi.

We have of course called fios multiple times, restarted our router even more times than we can count, and had a technician come to change the router for a new one - spoiler alert: none of these measures worked out.

Does anyone have any ideas on what we can do to fix this? It's getting really old really fast having to wait 5min for a YouTube video to load.

Thank you in advance!

Use my own router with Ont-coax-moca-router

My new house is currently wired up with all coax connections and the Ont is in an inconvenient location for my wireless router. Without running Ethernet cables, is it possible to run from the Ont via existing Coax into MoCa device then ethernet into my own router or is running new Ethernet  lines my only option? A few people have asked a similar question previously, but the answers have not been very clear.

For further clarification I will be using this for internet only service at 100/100 Mbps.

Fios-G1100 "Custom Port" forwarding broken with 02.02.0016 firmware?

I have a Fios-G1100 router, hardware version 1.03, running firmware version 02.02.0016.   Here is a print screen of the exact hardware and software that's running on my G1100:

g1100 current firmware.jpg

In the past I've had no issues forwarding ports on this router, as is evidenced by the attached screen print showing a bunch of port forwards that I've successfully added in the past:

existing port fowards.jpg

Until yesterday I had not, however, had a need to add a port forward since the router automatically updated itself to the version 02.02.0016 firmware.  Now it appears that "Custom Port" forwarding is broken!  While I can still add new port forwards if I select one of the preconfigued "Application to Forward..." choices, I get a "Invalid request, please try again" error message when I try to forward any custom port.

I've attached a screenshot of the exact Custom Port I'm trying to forward (9080) and how I'm trying to do it:

attempted custom port forward.jpg

I've also attached the error message I receive as soon as I press the "Add" button for the above port forward:

router invalid request please try again error.jpg

HELP!  I've tried the only thing I can think off -- power cycling the router -- and I'm still stuck.  The only workaround I know of would be to purchase another router and place it in the DMZ, and do all of my port forwarding in the new router.  I've been looking at the "Ubiquity EdgeRouter 4" (my home and property wifi is currently being handled by a mesh network of Ubiquity UAP-PRO access points) wired router if I can't figure this out, but I'd rather not spend the $175 if I don't need to.

My wired fios internet speed is almost 100mbs download, and 60mbs upload. From any pc. Just fine. But....my internal wired device-to-device speed is only 2.5mbs! That's constant whether Windows pc to Windows pc, Linux pc to Linux pc, Linux pc to Windows pc, any pc to my Buffalo NAS or NAS to pc. Always 2.5mbs. Any ideas?

Order still "On HOLD" after 2 weeks, install date approaching

$

My new Fios (internet only) install order at the new address shows up as "on hold" even after 2 weeks - "we are reviewing ... and will reach out to you .. or you can reach us on 1800verizon". The current resident is moving out and disconnecting his services on the same day - Dec 2. Is it "normal" for the order to show "on hold"? Will I get my modem shipped even if the order is on hold, and service running on the promised install date? I work from home and not having internet service is going to be a big issue.

Its been 2 weeks since I placed the order and no one from verizon has reached out to me. When I reached chat and phone (after twice getting dropped around 40+ minutes into the initial hold) they asked me not to worry, I will get the modem delivered exactly on the install date!  They refused to do anything further. That really is worrisome. If it shows that Verizon is still "reviewing", will they ship the modem this week for install on Dec 2?

Can someone help? Any email to contact support directly and escalate?
