Charged by Verizon fios for whole month when service was provided for one day.
Hi,
it is long story, short I was charged by Verizon for whole month of internet service (when it was turned on (only on servers - never in my flat) for one day - last day of July and additionally for router which was back to Verizon point and disapeared.
Long story:
My order consisted of internet service 300/300 plus router and it was made online on 07/26/2019. Internet service was scheduled to switch on (technician visit) on 08/01/2019.
I had 14 days for made resignation from it. And it was made by me - my resignation from order was made 4 days after my order was made (I had to postponed my decision). It was made by hotline service (Verizon land line/phone service contact). I was informed that I have to give back router which I received to Verizon point. (What it was made next day).
After I made resignation (day after) I noticed that on my (still fully working in those days) account it pup up information about charging me for one month of using internet service (for July – my order was made 07/26 how it is possible ? and never switch on) and the first half price of router. So I made one more time phone call to Verizon land line/phone service to explain the situation. I was informed that it is temporary situation (4-5 days) after making resignation from order (service never start) and my account will be closed and charged erased because I made resignation before service was on.
After 2-3 days my account was closed. My account is currently close, it was closed 3/4 days after i made resignation from my order.
One month later I received bill where is noticed that I was charged for month of service and whole price of router?!
Service never started in my flat, it was pri-planed to switch on at 08/01/2019 (it was planned in order) but I made resignation from order and Verizon technician did not come to connect the service?
Router shipped date was 7/29/2019. I received it 07/31/2019 and it was returned to Verizon point one day after I made the resignation from order. Verizon point address is 4224 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
I made one more time (3) phone call to Verizon land line/phone service to explain the situation. I received at first some strange information that my service was on the last day of July (for one day - that’s I have to paid for whole month) but there are no explanation why it is possible without switching service on inside my flat. It should be made but never happened – appointment (08/01/2019) was cancelled. And no information about the returned router - hotline have to check it but it takes time.
During dropping off this router at Verizon point servicemen told me that nothing more, no confirmation on paper and i should receive confirmation to my Verizon account….closed 3 days after making resignation. Finally I was informed that I have to wait and somebody will contact me by phone or email as a reaction on my complain but it was almost two weeks ago.
So at this moment I have a bill from Verizon – charged me for one month of internet service (never switched on) and also for $199 for Verizon router which is somewhere in Verizon storage or Verizon point or in another customer. They dont known where it is.....

How to use coax instead of Ethernet from fiber box
I have a Verizon box in my basement that is powered by street fiber. When I ordered my FiOS service it did not ask me any questions as far as how it will be connected, they just sent a router which arrived in 2 days. Now, I work in telecommunications already so I am pretty aware of how to set my own internet up, so when I saw my new house had coax connections in most of the rooms that lead to the Verizon box in the basement I assumed it was a coax job. Though I had no connectivity to my router, after some troubleshooting with tech support they told me it was set up as an Ethernet job not coax, and that if I wanted it to be coax I would have to contact Billing to change that and potentially have a tech out to service the box.
Now I have called tech support dozens of times with no help at all, whether it be incompetence, the website doesn't work (their website is hurtin for certain) or the employee simply hangs up on me when they transfer me to yet another department.. I've gotten no where. I just want to know what or who I need to get my Verizon box to output through coax.
Also their rewards page is conveniently down, seems like I am on a long list of unhappy folks trying to get answers/what they were promised on ordering. This is not how I wanted to start a new service.
Installing 2 ONTs at same address
Maybe I need to call FIOS & ask these questions. If so, please inform me in the reply.
My mom's house basically has an apartment in the basement. There are a bedroom, office, fridge, shower & living room. It may be converted. Currently, I'm living in an apartment, but I may be moving there.
I'm pretty sure that there isn't cable access in the basement.
So, here's where you may ask me to call FIOS & ask these questions.
I want my own FIOS bill. I don't want to share the cost of the existing FIOS bill with my sister. There's already an ONT & router upstairs in one of the bedrooms.
Is it possible to install a second ONT & router in the basement? I guess that the fiber-optic cable from the outside would go to a splitter & then 2 cables would go from the splitter- one to each ONT. Does FIOS charge for each outlet? I can think of 3 possible outlets in the basement- living room, bedroom & office.
I wonder if it costs more to add the ONT & router than to just run additional cables to the basement. I'll be paying for the installation.
I'm not asking how much it will cost. I'm just asking if it is feasible to have 2 ONTs & 2 routers in one house.
FIOS Quantum Router Not Sending Syslogs to Remote Server
Hello,
I have a FIOS Quantum router and I want to send syslog messages to an external syslog server. I configured the router with the correct IP address (192.168.3.180) in the Advanced Settings > Configuration Settings > System Settings > Enable Logging screen. I can ping the IP address from the router, and UDP port 514 is open on my remote server. I also tried TCP port 524. When I put a tcpdump on port 514, I get no data from my router's IP address.
Please let me know what else needs to be done.
Very Respectfully,
Steve
Are Fios Internet Speeds "Relative" based on the top limit?
I apologize because I don't know exactly how to ask this...but...
Quick version: Are internet plan speeds I can get "relative" based on their top mbps limit or is it just that speeds are capped at that top mbps limit?
Long version: Recently moved and set up Fios at our new house. This is my first time using Fios and the gigabit speeds that it offers. Unfortunately I didn't do my research as well as I should and didn't realize that in order to get the Gigabit speeds the devices needed to be wired to the gateway. This is impossible due to the location of the gateway and the way we use our devices. Every speed test I do usually has me getting somewhere in between 70-100 mbps throughout the house. But, this is actually perfectly fine for our internet usage - we are quite happy with the speeds we are getting when streaming, downloading, online gaming, etc. But, from what I understand, we are paying for the gigabit internet speed we are never going to get, right? Since we VERY rarely see speeds over 100mpbs on the dozens of speedtests I've done, I could drop down to the 100/100 plan and save some serious cash each month, correct?
BUT, my question is: if I were to drop the plan to the lower top limit, would that effect the speeds I'm getting below that limit? Would the 85mbps speeds I'm currently getting decrease because I'm no longer getting the gigabit signal from Verizon but instead getting a "weaker" 100/100 signal from Verizon? Or is it case where the internet speeds under the limit wouldn't change. Isntead, it would just be that I'd have no chance of getting above the 100mbps?
Maybe I'm just thinking about how internet is delivered in the wrong way... Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Internet only works with Verizon supplied ethernet cable from ONT to Router
Hello,
I am trying to relocate my router, necessitating a longer ethernet cable than originally installed by Verizon. I purchased the same Cat5E 568b cable for the new line. When I connect the new ethernet cable from the ONT to my router WAN (both with the Verizon supplied and another router) I cannot get a data connection.
The issue appears to be the ethernet cable between my ONT and the router.
I cannot get a connection to the internet using any cable (tried about 5 of varying lengths at this point) other than the Verizon supplied cable. When I attach a new ethernet cable to the ONT and to the WAN slot on my router, the "DATA" light on my ONT will not illuminate, and there is no internet. When I swap back to the old cable, all issues disappear and everything works fine. The ethernet cable seems like the only variable.
I've compared the wiring between the new and old cables and both appear to be the same on all ends (OW / O / GW / B / BW / G/ BrW / Br) and the same AWG24.
I am not a networking expert, but I am totally at a loss as to what the issue could be and I've not been able to locate any similar issues online or here. Any help/ideas would really be appreciated.
Horrible Upload/Download Speeds
New laptop less than a year old. Since being on Fios here at a new residence, my internet speed has been horrible. I am 8 feet from my router. I am using an AVG Secure Browser Without warning, 6-10 times per day, NEW webpages will display "Page Not Responding" message and a choice to Wait or End it. It NEVER fixes itself. I can toot around just fine in webpages that are already open. Then after awhile they stop working. I can open a webpage instantly in Microsoft Edge no problem. I have run the Troubeshooter on my Network Adapter with no issues. I've Run Compatibility tests with AVG and it says there are no issues.
The ONLY fix is to do Power down a forced shut off and restart. That gives me a couple of hours before it starts all over again. If it matters, I do occasionally see where the laptop does lose Internet Connectivity during the day yet my phone still works fine in the house. Also, I used to see Awww Snap when trying to load new web pages but that has been replaced by Page Not Responsive messages. Also, Facebook wil suddenly lose the ability to display pictures when the probem starts.
But this right here is abysmal and really makes no sense.
Anybody have any ideas? TIA
Rude manager named Kim and astronomical pricing
I just cancelled my service with FIOS because the price they quoted me a year and a half ago was not only misleading, but it has doubled.
First, I spoke with a rude manager named Kim who was completely unwieldy and really acted like she could care one way or another if I continued with Verizon. Hard to believe she's a manager.
She said she would send information about how to cancel my service and where to drop off the box and router, but she didn't. I had to place another call and get this information from a more humane representative.
In this day and age of outright dishonesty and false advertising, you really have to be discerning about where you do business and how you spend your money.
PortForwarding not working as expected
Hi,
I have a fios-quantum-gateway modem/router. One of the routers port is connected directly to my Netgear-prosafe (firewall). I have not configured this with static IP as as I see some other issues when I configure it that way. However the Netgear is set to grab the required IP with fios-Quantum-gateway (say 192.168.1.aa).
When I try to VPN from my home network with IP 192.168.1.bb to 192.168.1.aa , I am successfully able to VPN into the Netgear network. However if I try to VPN on 192.168.1.1 , then it fails
I have created a portforwarding rule trying to make it more liberal
Rule:
VPN_external | TCP Any -> 500 TCP Any -> 4500 ESP GRE AH UDP Any -> 500 UDP Any -> 4500 |
PortForwarding:
NGFirewall
192.168.1.aa. -> VPN_external
In additon to this, I have created routing rules
Name. Entry Destination Gateway Netmask
network Home/Office. IPv4 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.aa. 255.255.255.255
network Home/Office. IPv4 192.168.1.aa 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.255
my final goal is to VPN from external IP. A couple of years ago, I was able to do so. I am not sure way caused the external VPN to not work. Unsure if it was because of the change of router (from Actiontec MI424WR to Fios Quantum gateway).
I would appreciate some help.
Thank you in advance.

New construction
Hoping to get FIOS installed at a new construction development that is in the early stages of being built. Verizon FIOS is offered on the street that the new development is off of. When asked about FIOS in the neighborhood the builder informed me that Verizon told them that the developer had to guarantee service for all homes for multiple years or reimburse Verizon for the homes that do not use their services. Is this even something allowed in NY? Is there any engineering department I can make a request to or get more information about this matter?
Billing Issue - Listen to technical team call
Hi,
I had a speed issue, which the technical team over phone was not able to fix, so they dispatched a technician visit to my home and they confirmed there wont be any charge. But at the end I was charged 99+tax in the bill. I need a manager to listen to this call and waive the charges.

What service speed does the Actiontec MI424WR Rev I. support
I have an Actiontec MI424WR Rev I. gateway and I'm looking to sign up for FIOS service. I saw a note in the sign up process that says using this device would limit my connection to 50mbps, however, I know that this device supports faster connection speeds. Does anyone know if I can use this device for a 100mbps plan or faster?
To be clear, I'm not referring to WiFi speed. I have my own router and plan to bypass the Wifi functionality of the Actiontec MI424WR Rev I.
Thanks!
What will happen to my Guest network if I enable SON on FiOS Quantum gateway?
Does SON work with the FiOS Quantum Gateway's "Guest" network? Will anyone logged into that network have to connect to a new network if SON gets enabled?
Will SON work with a FiOS Quantum Gateway and a 3rd party access point?
I've got a FiOS Quantum Gateway router, but I also use a 3rd party access point (UniFi) with it. Will SON work, or should I not bother enabling it?
