Connecting a Switch to ActionTec Router

Hi,

I am trying to expand the wired ethernet in my house.  I have the Verizon ActionTec MI424WR Ver I router in the basement (4 ports) and just installed two Cisco SG-110-16 16 port unmanaged switches.  One in the basement and one in the attic.  The switch in the attic is connected to the switch in the basement.

I have all the hardware installed and the attic switch connected to one port in the basement switch.

Now, what settings do I need to change on my router so it will see or recognize components connected to the switches?  It is not a simple as plug an play.
