Hello. I am new to this forum, and I tried the search and read a lot of posts and still confused. My network expertize is next to none - i can deal with wiring of the cables but get confused by the setting of the devices.
I subscribe to Verizon FiOS internet service (nothing else, just the internet), and I am using a G1100 device. The internet enters the G1100 via an Ethernet cable, I have a 24-port switch connected to the regular Ethernet jacks on the router, the hardwired devices work fine. However, I was hoping to somehow increase the range of the Wi-Fi - the G1100 is located in "Comm Room" in the basement, where all the outside utilities enter the house. I also have a second, identical G1100 (both units are my personal property, they are not leased from Verizon). The house has Coax cables going from the Comm Room to each bedroom on the second floor, and I was hoping that there is a way to somehow extend the Wi-Fi to second floor by using the coax (I've read about MoCA). The desired operation would be, that the both routers somehow broadcast the same SSIDs for the 2.4 and 5 GHz with the same password, which would (hopefully) result in "seamless" hand-off when portable devices (laptop, pads, smartphones) are going from main floor to the second floor. The house also has a dozen or so wireless cameras mounted (permanently and some are not so permanently) around the house with couple SVRs recording 24/7. The SVRs are hardwired to the switch but some cameras at the far corners of the house fade in and out of the current Wi-Fi coverage, thus anoother reason for the desire to have better coverage.
Sorry for long winded question, I was hoping to describe my situation in as much detail as I could. I am not locked in using the second G1100, if there is another device that would accomplish the same task, I can try to get that device.
Thank you
