I have a Netgear C6300 modem I want to replace my Verizon one with, but how?

I hooked up my new modem and it had no internet access, I contacted Verizon but they had no answer. How do I get this modem to work with Verizon internet services?

I had asked if the MAC ID or anything was needed and I was told no, however, NetGear specifically points out that the ISP will need to register the modem to work. Any help? Thanks.
