I currently live in an apartment that has FiOS....sort of. What we have is FiOS to a closet that then provides DSL to the individual apartments.
Anyway, I need to know who I should get my landlord to contact in order to get real FiOS deployed.
I know for newer apartment installations, Verizon runs microduct from the closet to the attic and then down to each apartment where the ONT is then installed. I have discussed this with the head of maintenance for our complex and he has shown me a utility closet that is available at each individual apartment that the microduct can be run to for the ONT to be installed.
Each of these closets has power and is the main distribution point for the coax feeds within that apartment. The only thing that is missing is the Cat-5 for the phone service (which could be run during the microduct installation as it oes to the same closet).
All I need to know is who within Verizon the Apartment Complex manager needs to talk to in order to make this happen.
Most people in the complex do not have Verizon, but it is largely because the deployment is DSL. The DSL deployment only supports 8 apartments per each half of a building in my complex. Since we have 10 apartments on each half, 2 get left out. With all of the moves in and out, ccertain apartments have been told they can't get FiOS, so it has become widely believed that FiOS as a whole is not available in the complex when it probably is. Updating the service to real FiOS would alleviate this misconception.
