We upgraded to gigabit service recently and nothing has worked right since. We had to upgrade our ONT and in doing so, were told our setup wouldn't work the same way anymore. We used to have our ONT in the garage and our router was in our upstairs bedroom. After the upgrade, we were told it would only work if we had the router hooked up in the garage to the ONT.
We had an extender (WCB6200Q) placed in our upstairs bedroom where the router was previously.
Ever since, our wifi connections continually drop. The SSID values will disappear and require reboots for them to appear again. And we are having issues with the 5.0 connection. Just having two devices connected to it streaming cause buffering and connections to drop or the apps to say the speed isn't fast enough.
We have verified that we have gigabit speeds coming to the router. The speeds on our devices aren't exactly awesome but it is faster than our old 150/150 connection. Our Ethernet connections which are being routed through the extender over coax are only getting like 300/300 or somewhere around there. Our wireless devices are getting like 180/110... we are also running power over Ethernet and those connections are actually worse than the wifi.
Does anybody have any tips on what is going on? Should we have an upper tier tech come to our house? We just feel like something isn't set up properly.
