I bought a NEW Router from Amazon on January 29th, 2017, to be prepared for my new Verizon FiOS installation a few days later on January 31st, 2017. In case it didn't arrive in time, the installation tech brought a rental router with him.
Due to a mistake on the order, he also brought a cable box, but I told him we were only having internet installed.
As I understand it, he never installed the Verizon rental router. He only installed the router I purchased myself from Amazon. In February, we noticed that a rental fee was still being charged to our account. We called Verizon and they removed it.
For our March bill, the $10 rental fee was still on our bill. I called again, and Verizon informed me that I have one of their routers. I told them they were wrong, that I had returned the rental router. But they read me my serial number off of the router I own, and said it was theirs. They said maybe the Amazon seller sold me a stolen router. However, I contacted the seller (GSA Wholesale), who has thousands of sales, 4.9/5 stars, and has sold hundreds of these routers, and they assured me it was brand new, that it would be impossible for it to be a stolen router.
Is it possible that the installation tech registered MY new router as a Verizon router, and now they believe it needs to be returned to them? How do I resolve this? Verizon wants me to send them MY router back to them, or they will charge me for it. So I'm being charged twice for a router that I own??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
