Just posting a comment about terminating a service early with Verizon. Recently I was required to move as a result of the pending termination of my department in the company I work for and the loss of my job. As a result, I needed to change my service. I did have a two year service agreement of which I completed all but about 5 months. I had verizon phone, internet and FIOS TV (Triple play package). In my new location I would have been happy to continue the service but Verizon only offered DSL and Direct TV in my new location. Sorry but DSL is just unacceptable nor do I want a dish hanging off the side of my house. The point is that Verizon charged my account for an early termination despite not being able to offer the same service. If you cannot offer the same service that I agreed to, charging a fee for a required move is just telling your customers that all you care about is your money. And yes, they did say if I keep my land line, they would not charge the fee. My service agreement was for high speed internet, FIOS and phone line so adding the "keep" the phone is just another gimmick. Verizon knows they cannot compete with other providers in the area I moved to so they screw you by saying you have to keep the phone knowing that other providers all offer the same triple plays deals. As I said, I would have been happy to transfer the same service if it was offered but I believe if you cannot provide the same service, then early termination should not apply. I have been a verizon customers for numerous years. I will not be one again.
