Looking to replace the actiontec router with WRT1900AC + MOCA LAN bridge

Hi all, I've done some extensive googling on this subject and I think I have a solid plan, but I'm not sure if it will actually work as I haven't seen anyone do exactly what I'm considering.

Right now, my apartment is wired throughout with coax from the ONT with an ActionTec MI424WR Rev I that provides our internet service (we have internet + TV with a single STB). I have a Linksys WRT1900AC router that I wish to use as the primary router. My idea is:

Have Verizon provision the ONT to provide internet service via ethernet. Many people have done this, but I'm not sure if the STB will still be provided with VOD/guide data directly from the ONT. If not, could I use a MoCA LAN adapter like the ECB6200 in place of the MI424WR to provide that guide data while still having the Linksys router as the only router, connected via ethernet to the ONT and providing internet to the ECB6200 via a WRT1900AC LAN ethernet port?

I have already tried to set up the MI424WR as a MoCA bridge, providing internet and passing DHCP to the WRT1900AC, but I couldn't get the config to work (if anyone has done this and would like to share their settings, let me know). This config should have had the MI424WR providing a bridge to the WRT1900AC, which would DHCP an IP from Verizon.  The MI424WR would then request its IP from the WRT1900AC, but i couldn't get the MI424WR's WAN port to actually work. Also, yes, I know TCP port 4567 would need to be open on the Linksys to allow guide/VOD data to pass to the STB.

I would like to know if my first idea is feasible and, if not, how I can get the MI424WR bridged setup working.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Tim
