I'm trying to apply best practices to a (local) domain controller and its endpoints. so, in a subset, two wkstns W7P and W10. W7P obtains DNS automatically, W10 uses the static IP of the DC. the W10 joined successfully to the DC The W7P "can not contact the AD DC". But part of the details shows: "The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a AD DC is added to a domain. They are updated by the AD DC at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses: 192.168.1.1" I added the local domain (myserver.com) and the DC name (myServerHome) with the static IP assigned to the DC under the G1100 options for DNS Server. Makes no difference. I presume I'm doing something wrong. How do I shoehorn the DC's address into this router? Or is it just that the router has a weak features list? I see no DHCP options. I'd really like to get into the DHCP server configuration and remove anything but the DC. Thanks.
