Have had FIOS for TV/phone/Internet for over five years with very few problems. Over the past few months, however, I have begun to get some pixelation on the TV. Then just this past weekend, Internet access partially failed, and phone had static. I spoke to tech support and we did the usual range of troubleshooting options, which led them in the end to recommending that I replace the router. This (hopefully) comes tomorrow. I was also given a repair ticket for a visit from a tech to look at the phone issue, but that was mysteriously and unilaterally cancelled by Verizon this morning.
Maybe the router swap will miraculously fix all this, but I am posting the symptoms in case anyone else has had similar issues. The Internet access issue is the most confusing, as I can successfully access some sites, while others stall completely (same issue across multiple devices in the house). I actually began to wonder if this was a DNS issue on Verizon's end rather than a router failure, so much so that redirected the router to use open DNS - this did not help, although maybe I configured it incorrectly. When you read online reports, the number of DNS complaints is eye-catching, although I have never had that issue before.
And the coincidence of phone static and Internet access problems simultaneously is a red flag, to me at least. Would the phone issue be an ONT problem more than a router? And the pixelating TV?
Any advice or ideas are appreciated. My fear of course is that I will swap the router out and find no improvement. I probably should have demanded a truck roll....
