Bad news: our 8 year old FiOS router croaked.
Good news: call center tech very helpful, no hassles, new MI424WR delivered in just over 24hrs.
Bad news, version 2: ONT (outside box) has UTP (ethernet cable) that was plugged into WAN port on router. Also coax to house coax network. The included printed "Exchange Instructions" omit just two itty-bitty steps without which, you have no internet access:
1. The instructions make no mention at all of the WAN input, but there is no internet connectivity without it.
2. WPA security may be great, but my Nexus7 tablet got "authentication problem" until I pressed the WPS button on the front of the router while trying to connect the tablet.
The odds are good that hundreds of other long-time FiOS customers have also stubbed their toes on these issues. Does anyone at Verizon care to fix the documentation, or is this a bit of job security for the call center?
